ACTS Retirement Life Communities
ACTS Retirement Life Communities operates 21 senior living facilities throughout the east coast from their West Point, PA headquarters. Recently, the organization began replacing three Weil McLain boiler units they have on-site at their Cokesbury Village location with three new Weil McLain 1888 hot water boiler units. In the interim, however, the community found themselves with an unexpected need for an on-site hot water solution for their residents’ heating.
The Problem
ACTS’s Cokesbury Village, located in Hockessin, DE, began experiencing colder weather at night much sooner than in previous Septembers. This left residents cold and needing hydronic heat while the community’s boilers were being replaced. After much discussion and planning, ACTS decided the best approach would be to have a contractor come in and set up a rental boiler on site capable of producing hydronic hot water for the heating system as quickly as possible.
The Solution
The Powerhouse was chosen based on their ability to quickly supply an RH-250 complete portable boiler room unit with onboard heat exchanger and several hundred feet of various hoses to site with just a day’s notice over Labor Day weekend. Once on-site, an unforeseen issue meant the location of the unit needed to change. This delay resulted in an additional need for 500’ of hydronic hose and 200’ of feed water hose, which Powerhouse was able to have on-site the next morning in order to expedite the setup to begin operation.
Powerhouse’s response time and ability to quickly have the unit on site were second to none.
The Results
Thanks to the speed with which Powerhouse was able to deliver the mobile boiler solution and have it up and running, residents of the ACTS community were able to get their heating needs restored for the next several months with minimal interruption. Even though the project layout changed on site, Powerhouse’s ability to quickly adapt allowed ACTS to painlessly achieve their end goal.
